Dr. David Frawley (Pandit Vamadeva Shastri) is one of the world’s most respected teachers of Vedic knowledge. His work brings Vedic astrology into modern relevance without compromising its traditional depth and spiritual foundation.

He has received several prestigious honors in Vedic astrology from India’s leading astrological institutions:

  • Jyotish Kovid (1993)
  • Jyotish Vachaspati (1996)
  • Jyotish Medha Prabha (2014)
  • Jyotisha Mahasagara (2012, from the Raman and Rajeshwari Research Foundation)

He was directly initiated into Vedic astrological mantras by Dr. B.V. Raman, founder of the Indian Council of Astrological Sciences (ICAS), India’s largest Vedic astrology organization.

Vamadeva served as the first president of the American Council of Vedic Astrology (ACVA) from 1993–2003, and has been a board member of both ACVA and the Council of Vedic Astrology (CVA).

In addition to his accomplishments in astrology, Dr. Frawley is a globally recognized Ayurvedic teacher and author with decades of contribution to holistic healing and Vedic studies.

He holds a Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) in Yoga and Vedic Studies, and is the recipient of the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award from the Government of India. This honor recognizes his lifetime work in Ayurveda, Vedic astrology, and the broader field of Vedic knowledge.
